Mid-market rate vs. what your bank charges
The mid-market rate is the midpoint between global buy and sell rates for a currency pair — the rate you see quoted on financial news and in this converter. Banks and card networks typically add a markup of 2–5% (sometimes more) on top of that rate for actual transactions, plus a flat fee. Knowing the true mid-market rate lets you judge how much a bank, exchange counter, or card is actually charging you.
Reading the historical chart
Exchange rates move with interest rate differentials, inflation data, and macroeconomic news. The 30/90/365-day charts show whether a currency pair is trending or holding steady, which is useful context before converting a large amount, timing an international transfer, or budgeting a multi-month trip.
Building a multi-currency budget table
For travel or invoicing across currencies, converting one amount at a time is slow. The multi-amount table lets you enter several line items (or a full budget) and see them all converted at once, which is faster for trip planning, freelance invoicing, or comparing prices across countries.
